Is there anybody out there?
To say it’s been a while is an understatement. I haven’t posted a blog on this website for over five years!
So much has changed in my life during this period. I was still living in Portugal on the Portuguese Camino when I last wrote a blog.
I decided to return to the UK shortly thereafter due to health issues and Covid affecting my Wild Camino business. I can’t tell you the shock of returning to the UK after 11 years living abroad. I arrived back in Autumn 2021 into the loving arms of my family, but slid straight smack bang into an English winter. I come from the north of England, known for its damp and miserable weather during winter. We have a saying in the UK. “It’s grim up north,” and I certainly felt it during that first winter.
I planned to return to Spain once my Wild Camino business was up and running again, but in the meantime, I moved to West Yorkshire, to the beautiful market town of Otley, for a year, during which time I published my book, Wild Camino. I’ve returned to Spain three times to walk the Camino since then, and it was wonderful to spend time in my adopted homeland.
I always believed I would end up back in Spain until one day, six months ago, I thought to myself, I want to stay in the UK. I have a very peaceful life now after years of excitement as a vagabond. I have a slow life, which I enjoy as I grow wilder. I also have strong bonds of love and affection with my family, and I realised I don’t want to leave the UK behind. What’s more, I actually enjoyed winter this year, which I never thought I would say, but it’s true.
So, I decided I wanted to settle in West Yorkshire, and I’m very pleased to say I’m in the process of buying a house in a small village not far from my family, set in the beautiful English countryside. I’m hoping to move in early summer, and I can’t wait to share my move with you all.
My focus has been on my Wild Camino business for the last three years, which has gone from strength to strength, but my blog fell by the wayside. I really missed writing and coaching, so I’ve decided to carve out the time to write and coach again. I’m offering my courses Wild Empath, Find Your Roar, Growing Wilder and Free Your Wild together with Path to Freedom coaching sessions.
I’ve also begun a passion project, Wild Amma, a space for storytelling of all things wild, which I’m looking forward to sharing with you all. I can’t tell you the joy it brings me to be tinkering away on my laptop again!
So, this wild vagabond has finally decided to settle in one place after years of wandering. It’s only taken 48 years! I now have peace and love, which is more than enough, my friends.
So, I’m glad to be back sharing my stories and life lessons learned. I hope you enjoy my words.
Big Love
Samantha xxx
